Cappex was reviewed by Inside Higher Ed while we were at the industry conference (NACAC). The show was great, it was a big launch for us, we signed up many counselors and colleges there.
I like the TECH Cocktail parties a lot. They do a nice job uncovering unique business models and cool companies. Chicago has a quite a bit of grass-roots start-up activity. Mostly because it’s difficult to get funding so there are a lot of bootstrappers.
We went there looking for some online marketing help in June of 2007.
The company, Vicarious Communication, got a lot of attention. It put some wind behind the sails and kept the project moving forward.
